Model progress

  1. On the right track. The whole scheme above ground is starting to take a rectangular 'boxed' like quality so consider the sequence of scales (ie large open spaces vs smaller intimate corridor like spaces). Mario Botta's Chapel of Santa Maria Degli Angeli comes to mind when it comes to the mid section of your model - architecture that can still be linear but demonstrate a playful sequence of monumental and intimate/narrow spaces.

We havent seen much interiors or at much resolution of your underground spaces - so those are probably the priorities instead at this stage. Are you sure youre going to go with the orange color pallette?

    1. Hi Jacky, thank you very much for the feedback. I will work on creating more interior spaces.

I originally chose the orange colour palette as a reference to the client's work: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-48bLRzQEKGY/VtqZJ7x1MRI/AAAAAAAAABc/TTEY1MdcWj8/s1600/pasi.png. However, I am happy to change it to match the above ground palette if that will be successful in creating a unified scheme?

Also, I was wondering whether the overall external form of the underground space is okay, and whether you would prefer us to use furniture from the SketchUp Warehouse (with credit) or design our own?

    2. Also, I was thinking about what you said in class about bringing the bottom up to the top to form parts of the datum, so I was wondering if skylights for the underground level would be permitted? Or would that be considered not underground enough?

  2. Hi Mona, theyre all very detailed questions and therefore all open ended questions at this stage until you actually explore it and make a judgement for yourself whether it will result in a better architecture or not.

Think textures (which youve drawn) and consider composition of materials (how things come together, balance or otherwise) instead of whole blocks of colors thrown on all walls and surfaces of a volume. You can even tint textures to express the linework in a certain color if you so choose.

time is short, as long as you're moving forward instead of backwards then that would be ok.

If in doubt refer to the marking schedule!
